Being a fourth year camper at Shaffer’s High Sierra Camp I thought I had learned all there was about camp life.

However, once I joined the CILT (Camper’s inn leadership Training) programme I learned not only what the counsellors had to do to keep things running smoothly, but how to become  a better leader myself.

After assisting the younger campers with meal time and evening ritual, I became confident in leading activities such as evening reflections and games. However, my leadership skills were truly tested when teaching whole-camp games and activities such as kayaking.

Although CILT can be a challenging program, the rewards of newfound leadership skills and great friendships make it worthwhile!
