Nursing Jobs
Overview
Shaffer's High Sierra Summer Camp offers children 8 to 17 a sleepaway summer camp experience but with a focus on non-competitive wilderness adventure activities in California's splendid Tahoe National Forest. (Go to our Home page to read more.) We are a blend between a traditional summer camp and a more remote wilderness camp. The Camp staffs its three-bed Health Center with a doctor, nurse practitioner, or a registered nurse. Primary duties include camper check-in, administering medications daily, being on-call for first aid, and record-keeping. You have at least two hours off per day for recreation or to just relax in a beautiful setting. Though we prefer longer commitments, it may be possible to work with us for as short as just one week.
Pay
First-year RNs typically earn $800 per week. Our RNs/NPs/MD often trade the value of their services for up to two camp-age children for full camp tuition. Accommodations are simple and include your own sleeping area adjacent to the health center.
Requirements
We strongly prefer health center professionals who have pediatric and also trauma experience. We look for people who are mature, responsible, and love kids. You must hold a California medical license. See our job description for a more complete description of duties.
