Summer Camp Jobs
There's no Wi-Fi in the forest, but we promise you'll find a better connection here.
Are you looking for a summer experience where you can expand your skills and develop both personally and professionally? Are you interested in making a positive impact on the lives of children? Do you relish physical activity and want to work in a beautiful natural environment? Would you enjoy being “unplugged” for much of the summer so you can find a better connection with others, the outdoors and yourself through challenging and meaningful work?
Shaffer's High Sierra Camp's team is made up of motivated, mature individuals with a great work ethic who also love to play. If you think you have what it takes to join our exceptional staff, we invite you to apply here.
If you're considering whether a summer internship or employment at summer camp is better for your long-term goals, the American Camp Association produced a video recently that's worth a look. Click here to watch.
The Application Process
Openings for jobs are filled on a rolling basis, which means there is no set deadline. After we receive your Employment Application, we review it. If you appear to be a good match with the Camp, we'll contact you to set up an interview. Interviews generally take 40 to 60 minutes and may be conducted by telephone. For those candidates who stand out, we check references and conduct a background check. After all that, if you're successful we'll contact you with congratulations and forward employment forms to you.
International Staff
We encourage people who live outside the United States to apply. You will need to be able to read and speak English fluently. You must pay for and obtain a J-1 Visa and provide for your own transportation to Camp. There are several organizations that will help you through the paperwork necessary to get your J-1 Visa. If you have not already started working with one of these organizations, we can help successful candidates through the organization with which we work. Because the Visa application process can take a couple months, you should make every effort to get your Employment Application to us by May 1st.
If you have any questions after reviewing the descriptions of the positions in which you are interested, please contact us. We look forward to seeing your application!
